Proyecto N.A.S.A.(L) presenta la primera exposición dedicada al artista ecuatoriano Ricardo Coello Gilbert [Guayaquil, 1980], en Lima.

En su obra, Ricardo Coello Gilbert aborda diferentes tensiones sociales desde una reflexión que cuestiona la ética establecida desde los principios de la fe. Las cuatro obras presentadas en el marco de ART Lima Gallery Weekend sirven como telón de fondo para entender las aproximaciones a los signos, imágenes, archivos y objetos que Coello Gilbert emplea para cuestionar el papel moralizador que regula y limita el pensamiento crítico.

La obra «El velo de los creadores», al igual que «Todos los dioses», ironiza sobre ciertas creencias extendidas que parecen ser inapelables. En ellas, el artista remarca y extrae contenido bíblico que revela la existencia de otros múltiples dioses. Coello Gilbert construye sus narraciones a partir de memoria e información, conformando unos relatos discursivos en los que la crítica y el cuestionamiento a ciertas realidades de la historia de la religión aparecen siempre de manera explícita. Pero en estos relatos, también hallamos el desarrollo de unos mecanismos metafóricos que permiten establecer una relectura muy sutil, en la que la literalidad de los enunciados se transforma en una mirada poética que nos conduce a reflexionar sobre los límites de la imaginación, las bases de nuestro conocimiento y nuestras responsabilidades como humanidad.

En sus preocupaciones, las microhistorias se entremezclan con la gran historia en un intento de revelar el sentido más profundo de la naturaleza humana. Y enfatizan la necesidad de acercarnos a nuestra realidad inmediata a través una mirada elaborada, que no se encuentre mediada por doctrinas sociales o políticas. Sus obras pueden fluctuar de manera libre entre las micronarraciones y el ensayo formal. Son espacios que constituyen síntesis orales y generan nuevas dimensiones de sensibilidad.

Proyecto N.A.S.A. (L) presents the first exhibition dedicated to the Ecuadorian artist Ricardo Coello Gilbert [Guayaquil, 1980], in Lima.

In his work, Ricardo Coello Gilbert addresses different social tensions from a reflection that questions the ethics established from the principles of faith. The four works presented in the framework of ART Lima Gallery Weekend serve as a backdrop to understand the approximations to the signs, images, files and objects that Coello Gilbert uses to question the moralizing role that regulates and limits critical thinking.

The work «The Veil of the Creators», like «All the Gods», ironizes about certain extended beliefs that seem to be unappealable. In them, the artist highlights and extracts biblical content that reveals the existence of other multiple gods. Coello Gilbert constructs his narrations from memory and information, forming discursive stories in which the criticism and the questioning of certain realities of the history of religion always appear explicitly. But in these stories, we also find the development of metaphorical mechanisms that allow us to establish a very subtle rereading, in which the literality of the statements is transformed into a poetic look that leads us to reflect on the limits of the imagination, the foundations of our knowledge and our responsibilities as humanity.

In his concerns, microhistories intermingle with the great story in an attempt to reveal the deepest meaning of human nature. And they emphasize the need to approach our immediate reality through an elaborate view, which is not mediated by social or political doctrines. His works can fluctuate freely between the microstories and the formal essay. They are spaces that constitute oral syntheses and generate new dimensions of sensitivity.
